Day 5(22): Ponferrada to Villafranca del Bierzo

Poor nights sleep but still got up and headed out with Damian and grabbed a coffee before heading out onto the trail.

The previous night Damian, Scott and myself went to a restaurant recommended by our host. Food was good and crac was good. Scott decided to head off on the Camino de Invierno, which was used for when the pass via O Cebreiro was blocked by snow in winter, its three days longer.

Today while the mountains surrounding us were spectacular the terrain we were walking through was quite mundane, so not a lot of photos.

I was going to go all the way to O Cebreiro tomorrow but accommodation is tough. Instead I’ve stopped earlier in Laguna de Castilla which is 2.4 km short of O Cebreiro.

But I’m planning on taking the science route tomorrow. So in total it looks like it will be 27km.
