Last night we had trouble finding a restaurant. I had checked and found a few nearby, but unfortunately none of them were open. There was a supermarket, so Bob had peanut butter and jam on a baguette, while I had fruit, crisps and nuts—all washed down with some beer.
We left this morning at 7.55, having had a continental breakfast at the hotel.

We walked through the rolling hills and countryside around Güemes. We had hoped to stop there for some food and coffee but, surprise, surprise, nothing was open. We carried on and eventually found a café in Galizano, where we stopped for coffee.
From there, it was just 1 km to the coast. This is probably the most dramatic stretch of coastline on the Camino, and we followed it towards Santander Bay.

When we reached Playa de Somo, we decided to walk along the beach. Halfway across, we stopped and went for a swim. The waves were brilliant and, although the water felt cold when we first got in, it was very enjoyable.

We then headed towards the ferry, which was just arriving as we got there. The crossing cost €4 and took about 20 minutes.

After arriving at the port in Santander, our accommodation was only a 20-minute walk away.
In total, we walked 25 km with 380 metres of elevation.
125.76 km walked and 2,010 metres of elevation.
