A later than normal start but no rush today as it was only 20km.
The Camino took me past the cathedral again.

Not 15 minutes into my Camino and I met two pilgrims Terry and George from Washington State and we walked together for 10km. We also briefly met Helen from Germany but she headed off to a supermarket to get some food.

The Camino splits 10km outside Leon. George and Terry were going the traditional route but I had decided to take the alternative to avoid walking along the motorway. The downside is I have an extra 4 km spread over two days. The routes merge tomorrow just before Astorga. We may meet up tomorrow for dinner.
The alternative route was very quiet in terms of numbers of pilgrims.
The first 10km was walking trough built up areas but after the fork in the Camino it was mainly on a dirt/farm track that separated ploughed fields for at least 10km. Then I came in to a small village and stopped for a bight to eat. There I met Dusty from Indiana.
Finished walking at 15.00 and found my hoste, Alberge de Jesus.
Very comfortable hostel. Staying in a 4 bedroom dorm on a bottom bunk and Dusty is above me.
For food I had the Pilgrim dinner for €14. Glass of wine, noodle soup, cod and chips and a corneto ice cream.
The plan is to walk 13 days in total covering 315km. I fly home on the 23rd October.
