Early start out of bed and getting dressed before 07.00.
Did a lot of work getting the blog for the night before finished.
Departed the Alberge at 7.50

I was 10 minutes and about a kilometre before I too the selfie and stated my watch.

2km into the hike we came to Cruz de Ferro(Irom Ctoo) which is the highest point on the Camino and where people lay there stones. It was not as impressive as I thought it would be. It’s the highest point in the Camino Francés at 1505m.

El Acebo de San Miguel is a small mountain village where we had brunch. We Met Ellie here who was from New Zealand and she was a little upset. She brought a stone from NZ to lay at the iron cross but decided not to leave it. She had inscribed on the name of here two children that had passed, with dates on it as if a grave stone. Her son died tragically a while back and daughter’s first anniversary is next week and she died of breast cancer. To have had to burry two of your kids is tough.

We stopped a lot today and didn’t get in till 16.00, and there was a real contrast in temperature from being cold at the top to the hot sun when entering Ponferrada crossing the roads to be in the shade.
I spent most of the day walking and chatting with Damian, he is very good company.
Alberge is really mixed tonight and very comfortable.
