Bob and I had been planning to walk the Camino del Norte from Irun to Llanes from 2nd–15th September. Unfortunately, on the morning Bob was due to leave Atlanta, he suffered an eye injury after being hit by a flying rock. He decided to continue with his flight to London but wanted to get it checked once he arrived in the UK.
To cut a long story short, we had to delay the start of the trip so that Bob could see a specialist and receive treatment.
We are now flying to Bilbao on Sunday 6th September, and as Bob still needs to make his original return flight, we’ve had to shorten the hike.
I still wanted Bob to experience San Sebastián, so on Day 1 we’ll walk from San Sebastián to Zarautz before catching a bus to Bilbao. From there, we’ll rejoin the Camino and continue west through Santander, eventually finishing in Llanes.
We’ll then take the bus back to Bilbao before flying home to England on 17th September.
